However you met them — whether through The Breakfast Club (1985), St. Elmo's Fire (1985) or Pretty in Pink (1986)you couldn't escape the "Brat Pack" in the 1980s.

The crew of then-rising teen stars dominated the decade's iconic hits and made headlines on- and off-screen, with some sustaining their careers well into the 21st century. In 2024, a Hulu documentary directed by Brat Pack member Andrew McCarthy reunited him with many of his former costars, who he sat down with to discuss their collective Hollywood reign and its impact on their lives.

In a statement about the documentary, titled BRATS, McCarthy said, “The Brat Pack has cast a long shadow over my life and career. After all these years, I was curious to see how it had affected my fellow Brat Pack members. What I found was surprising — and liberating.”

From Molly Ringwald to Rob Lowe and beyond, see the members of the Brat Pack, then and now.

Molly Ringwald

Molly Ringwald has been one of the best at keeping her name in the news since her slew of '80s high school hits (1984's Sixteen Candles and Pretty in Pink, to name a few) earning a steady stream of credits before making a splash playing a parent in the teen-centric series The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Riverdale. She then went on to appear in Netflix's Kissing Booth trilogy (2018, 2020, 2021), Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and FX's Feud: Capote vs. The Swans.

In April 2024, Ringwald told U.K. outlet The Times that she "rewatched The Breakfast Club, which came out in 1985, because [her daughter] Mathilda wanted to see it with me."

"There is a lot that I really love about the movie but there are elements that haven’t aged well," she said. "I’m glad we’re able to look at that and say things are truly different now."

Ringwald has three children with husband Panio Gianopoulos, whom she married in 2007.

Anthony Michael Hall

During his Brat Pack years, Anthony Michael Hall joined the cast of Saturday Night Live for the 1985–1986 season when he was just 17 and earned roles in films like Weird Science (1985) and Edward Scissorhands (1990). He was later featured on the TV series The Dead Zone, Awkward, Murder in the First, The Goldbergs and Bosch: Legacy. Hall also starred as Tommy Doyle in 2021's Halloween Kills.

Reflecting on his Brat Pack years, Hall told Fox News Digital in September 2022 that he "didn’t anticipate being famous at age 15," saying: "To be very honest, it did freak me out when it first happened. The idea of being recognized ... It was very challenging. I would joke, but it’s true, that it took me probably 20 years to process being 15 because I had experienced so much in between."

In 2017, he was sentenced to three years of probation after pleading no contest to charges that he assaulted his neighbor during an argument. Three years later, he married actress Lucia Oskerova, with whom he welcomed a son named Michael Anthony Hall II.

After The Breakfast Club, Ally Sheedy starred in Short Circuit (1986) and High Art (1998), among other films, as well as being featured in roles on Kyle XY and Psych.

"I'm very open to talking about my experiences," Sheedy told PEOPLE in January 2022. "I'm always happy to talk about The Breakfast Club. I still really love it!"

In 2015, Sheedy reunited with Breakfast Club costar Molly Ringwald for the 30th anniversary of that film. They gathered once again on-screen for an episode of Single Drunk Female, on which Sheedy starred as Carol.

In 1992, she married David Lansbury, nephew to Angela Lansbury, but they split in 2008. Together, they share one son who is transgender.

Judd Nelson followed St. Elmo's Fire and The Breakfast Club with From the Hip (1987), New Jack City (1991) and Billionaire Boys Club (2018). He acted opposite Brooke Shields for three seasons on the TV sitcom Suddenly Susan, scored a recurring role on Empire, and starred in a slew of films like Dante's Hotel (2023) and South of Hope Street (2024).

Nelson declined to reunite with his former St. Elmo's Fire costar Andrew McCarthy in the BRATS documentary. "Judd didn’t want to talk," McCarthy told reporters in February 2024 on a Television Critics Association Press Tour, per USA Today. "Judd said, 'the Brat Pack didn’t exist, so I don’t want to talk.’"

Emilio Estevez

After starring in The Outsiders (1983), The Breakfast Club and St. Elmo's Fire, Emilio Estevez found continued success with movies like Stakeout (1987), Young Guns (1988), The Mighty Ducks (1992) and their respective sequels.

Estevez wrote, directed and acted in The Way (2010), which starred his father Martin Sheen, and The Public (2018) — one that featured an ensemble cast including Alec Baldwin, Christian Slater and more.

He also reprised his role as Coach Bombay in the first season of The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers in 2021, but was replaced by Josh Duhamel (playing Coach Cole) for season 2.

Andrew McCarthy said that Estevez was “not interested in talking about the Brat Pack for years,” but Estevez agreed to reunite with McCarthy for the Hulu documentary. “I turned everything down,” the actor said during the BRATS trailer but told McCarthy he was opening up now “because you called me. It was time that we clear the air on a couple things.”

The actor had a relationship with Brat Pack member Demi Moore from 1984 to 1986. Estevez then married singer Paula Abdul in April 1992, but they divorced just over two years later. He has two children from another relationship with former model Carey Salley.

Andrew McCarthy

Andrew McCarthy became an '80s movie all-star, acting in Pretty in Pink, Mannequin (1987), Less Than Zero (1987) and Weekend at Bernie's (1989). The actor has been primarily directing, helming episodes of Orange Is the New Black, The Blacklist and more. However, McCarthy still appears on-screen, as he joined the main cast of The Resident during its sixth season.

In 2021, McCarthy released his memoir, Brat: An '80s Story, which discusses his time in the group as he once "recoiled from it."

“[The Brat Pack] did have personal ramifications,” he told PEOPLE in June 2024. “We were just in the right place at the right time and represented that seismic change in pop culture. You’re easy prey when you’re exposed in that way.... We just felt unseen. It felt like I lost control of the narrative of my career."

Now, McCarthy is determined to reclaim the term Brat Pack with his Hulu documentary. "The movie is about reconciling the experiences of our life. We tend to look at those in one way, and then maybe they are worth reconsidering at a later point in life," he said to PEOPLE. "[Now] we can look back on this thing with a certain affection. We can go, ‘Oh, being in the Brat Pack? That was pretty awesome.’ ”

He split from college sweetheart Carol Schneider, with whom he has one son, in 2005, and married his second wife, Dolores Rice, in 2011; together, they have two kids.

Rob Lowe

Rob Lowe started off the '80s in relationships with both Melissa Gilbert and Princess Stephanie. He also reteamed with St. Elmo's Fire costar Moore in 1986's About Last Night.

"Being the Brat Pack not only changed all of our lives, it changed what entertainment is," Lowe told Andrew McCarthy in the BRATS documentary. "I'm not gonna say we were the Beatles or anything, but we could've [sold Shea Stadium]. 1985? I think we could've."

In 1988, his public image took a hit with his infamous sex tape scandal, but he eventually returned to the public eye with roles in Wayne's World (1992), The West Wing, Brothers and Sisters and Parks and Recreation. Lowe stars on the TV series 9-1-1: Lone Star, and appeared in Super Troopers 2 (2018) and Dog Gone (2023).

He's been married to Sheryl Berkoff since 1991 and has two sons, Matthew and John Owen; the latter stars alongside Lowe on the Netflix series Unstable.

Demi Moore

After joining the Brat Pack in St. Elmo's Fire, Demi Moore enjoyed a string of hits throughout the '90s, including Ghost (1990), A Few Good Men (1992) and Indecent Proposal (1993). She also caused a stir in 1991 by posing pregnant and nude on the cover of Vanity Fair.

After a hiatus from Hollywood, Moore returned in 2003 with Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, and continued working on projects like Empire, Songbird (2020), the Dirty Diana podcast and Feud: Capote vs. the Swans. In 2019, she released a memoir that created a lot of buzz about her life and career.

Moore appears in the Hulu documentary to discuss her time in the Brat Pack, a label she once disliked. “For me, I didn’t love it, being thought of as a brat because I thought it kind of diminished us as professionals. But I didn’t carry it," she said on Good Morning America in January 2024. "I really enjoyed my time with [Andrew McCarthy] sitting down and reminiscing. And I was only sorry [all the actors] didn’t get a chance to all be together at one time. That would be, really, a treat, actually.”

She split from Freddy More in 1985, Bruce Willis (with whom she shares daughters Rumer, Scout and Tallulah) in 2000 and from Ashton Kutcher in 2013.
