SRT Setup Guide About SRT This guide provides information about using the SRT feature in select Roland video products. SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) is an open-source standard for AVoIP developed by Haivision. It provides secure encrypted audio and video transmission over IP networks and future-proof connectivity within installed system configurations. SRT seamlessly extends the production capabilities of your supported Roland product via LAN or an internet connection. It allows you to access camera images from remote locations and switch them along with local HDMI and SDI sources. You can also send a dedicated SRT video output to an external destination, such as another building at the production location. Compatible Products V-80HD VR-120HD Version 2.0 or later. VR-6HD Version 2.0 or later. SR-20HD Version 2.0 or later. Configuring the SRT System Compatible Roland products have one SRT input and one SRT output, with independent settings for each. The following SRT formats are supported: Container: MPEG2 TS Video: H.264 Audio: AAC Six settings are required to make an SRT connection. For detailed instructions, refer to the reference manual for the compatible Roland product. Caller/Listener Port Number IP Address Latency Encryption Bit Rate Let’s look at each step. 1 Caller/Listener The first step requires setting up Caller and Listener settings for each connected device. The connection is established when the Listener accepts a connection request from the Caller. Roland products have separate Caller and Listener settings for the SRT input and output. Input The following input options are available. Output The following output options are available. Up to three Callers can be connected to Roland SRT products, allowing for distribution to up to three different destinations. 2 Port Number Set the same Port number for all connected devices. There is no specific Port number specified by the SRT standard. 3 IP Address Configure the network settings of the Roland device. Next, enter the IP address (Local/Global) of the connected device. 4 Latency Configure the latency settings for the current network conditions. For a stable connection, set a sufficient RTT (Round Trip Time). For long-distance video streaming, a higher value will be required for reliable operation. 5 Encryption Encryption enables secure connections. You can choose from four options: AES-128, AES-192, AES-256, or no encryption. The encryption type must be the same on all connected devices. You need to create a passphrase (10-79 characters) when the encryption is set. 6 Bit Rate Roland SRT devices support input streams with a 20 Mbps bit rate. However, if the Capacity parameter is set to Standard, the input source bit rate must be set to 10 Mbps or lower. Bit rates up to 20 Mbps are always available on the output of the Roland device. Supported Formats Standard Mode (Up to 10 Mbps): 720p25, 720p29.97, 720p30, 720p50, 720p59.94, 720p60, 1080p25, 1080p29.98, 1080p30 High Mode (Up to 20 Mbps): 720p25, 720p29.97, 720p30, 720p50, 720p59.94, 720p60, 1080p25, 1080p29.98, 1080p30, 1080p50, 1080p59.94, 1080p60 Applications The advantage of configuring a system with SRT is a stable and secure connection with remote locations and servers. This is useful for many different applications. Tip: View the SRT Stream on a Computer VLC Media Player Launch the software, and then click Media in the menu tab and select Network Stream.
