If you’re like us, you’ve probably wondered what everyday stuff famous people add to their carts — like hair spray or an electric toothbrush. We asked tennis player Emma Raducanu — who competed in the U.S. Open this week and is the new global ambassador for the UK-based personal care brand Wild — about the running-friendly headphones, refillable deodorant, and the espresso machine she can’t live without.

I’ve been using eye patches twice a day as of late, which is probably extreme, but I get quite intense bags and puffiness under my eyes. The Charlotte Tilbury ones have been pretty good, and the 111Skin ones also. When I was just in New York, I was keeping them on for longer than 10 minutes. Sometimes I would go out and get coffee with my eye patches still on. I don’t know if that’s embarrassing or not; I just knew I needed to reduce the bags and the puffiness, so I didn’t really care. They cool my under-eyes and give me the feeling that it helps. Whether it does or not from the outside, I don’t know — but for me, I feel like it works.

For me, it’s essential to have headphones all the time. I travel so much, and a big must-have is noise-canceling ones so I can just listen and not have the sound of the engine or the people around me be too loud. I used to have over-ear headphones, but it’s just another thing to carry and lose. And a lot of [the in-ear] headphones fall out when you’re exercising. That’s a no-go because I like going for runs and I don’t want to have to be adjusting them the whole time. Now I’m just using AirPods. I really like the Modern Wisdom podcast, but otherwise it’s music. If I’m warming up, I like songs that have a beat. In my downtime, Noah Kahan is someone that I really enjoy listening to. It’s just very relaxed, good music.

I’m pretty into my coffee. I have a La Marzocco machine, although I have not perfected how to do the microfoam and the milk. It’s something that, when I have some time, I would actually like to learn how to do. So I have a separate milk frother that is easier to use — you just press a button. At home I’ll just do a double shot of espresso and add some frothy milk. I also like to explore little coffee shops. If I like the coffee at the shop, then I’ll buy the beans. Sometimes you find these really cool bags of coffee beans abroad, and they’re colorful and look good on display as well.

To be honest, I’m not someone who’s very picky about what I’m playing with—right now it’s a Wilson Blade racket. I just leave it to my coach. I think it’s a good thing that I’m not too dependent on every detail of the racket being perfect. It means that I can focus more on the tennis. It’s quite a big job to change frames because you need to fully trust it in the moment of a big point. It can really cost you if you don’t fully believe in the shot that you’re about to go for. But depending on the altitude, humidity, weather, or time of day, you might go up or down in the tension of the strings.

I always travel with a journal. I like to use pen and paper instead of my phone Notes sometimes: Notes if I want to remember something quickly, but I like having a journal if I want to go into more detail. I just find having a paper version is more therapeutic as well. There’s this shop in Chelsea with some really cool notebooks, so I just got one from there. It’s yellow—it gives me good energy when I look at it. I’m just very attracted to the initial feeling I get when I see something, and it was just positive and uplifting. I’m pretty particular about the pens I use too. My favorite is the hotel pen from the Mandarin Oriental. I’ve been using it for a while. Anytime I stay at a Mandarin Oriental, I take the pen!

It’s important to have something that’s practical and fits everything, but also is stylish. For check-ins, I need to fit my tennis rackets as well. I’ve just come across a really nice British brand called Globe-Trotter. I love the leather details — very timeless and classic — and it’s got four wheels so you don’t need to drag it along the airport floor.

I love how the Wild cases are reusable, and it’s great to be able to use my voice and platform to champion sustainable choices. It’s fun when you open your bag and have something that puts a smile on your face. My favorite scent is the Coconut and Almond Cream one because it’s quite fresh and not overpowering. And my case right now is the one with bees on it — it’s an Emma Bridgewater pattern. Wild actually sent me some deodorants back in 2021, so it’s been a while that I’ve loved the brand.
