Alexander Hamilton's historic home won't be moved to its new plot in St. Nicholas Park until June 7, but prep work on the 206-year-old national monument is complete in advance of today's baby step. The house, NewYorkology notes, is sitting on top of three stories of thick wood beams, like a very delicate game of Jenga. This afternoon, the Hamilton Grange will be slid out onto Convent Avenue, before its big move around the corner at 141st Street and then into the park. The slightly controversial move will give the home?wedged between a church and an apartment building?some breathing room.
