Location and How To Get There
PET-CON 2009.1 is hosted by the Privacy and Data Security research group of Technische Universität Dresden.
TU Dresden's Department of Computer Science is located on the campus in the south of Dresden, at Nöthnitzer Straße 46. It can be reached by the city tram line 3 (stop Nöthnitzer Straße) (Google Maps). For further travel information, please consult the department website.
The 'Ratszimmer' room 1004 is located in the 1st floor (counting from zero). When you exit the elevator, turn left, go to the next intersection and turn left again. The meeting room is straight at the end of this (short) corridor. We plan to put some signs which guide you the way.
Btw., Dresden is a picturesque city, worth a journey at all times of the year.
Accommodation
Recommended place to stay:
- TU Dresden's guest house at Weberplatz offers nice rooms (like a 3-star hotel) and is a good compromise between proximity to the city centre and the campus.
Other places, budget:
- City Herberge Dresden: basic accommodation in the city centre (located in the former Robotron premises; direct connection to campus via tram line 3)
- A&O Hotel/Hostel: basic accommodation (single and double rooms or dormitory) located close to the main train station; direct tram line connections to the city centre and the campus (tram line 3)
- Pension "An der Weisseritz": limited amount of rooms in walking distance to conference location
Other places, comfort:
- The Royal Inn Leonardo Dresden, walking distance to PET-CON venue
- any big hotel chain in the city centre (IBIS, Hilton, ...)
Travelling Stipends
NEW!
We managed to collect some money in order to offer students a (partial) payment for their travel expenses. Actually, we got 100 Euro (please reload this web page on a regular basis - we might get more money).
If you are a student and can not afford the expenses for a travel to Dresden, you are allowed to apply for a grant to support your travel. In order to apply for (some part of) the total grant:
- please submit a paper (which you will then present at the workshop)
- write us a short paragraph containing
- the actual money you would have to spent for travelling (T)
- the amount of money your chair is willing to pay (please ask them first) (C)
- the amount of money you are willing to pay yourself (X)
- the remaining amount for which you apply (Z = T - C - X)
As a replacement for the submission of the paper you might also make a proposal for a workshop which you want to offer, or a tutorial.
The notification of travel grants will be in parallel to the paper review process.
More information on the voluntary submission process
For those participants who would like to practice the art of writing academic papers, we will establish a voluntary submission process with peer-reviewed proceedings. In order to participate in the submission process, you have to write a conference-style extended abstract for your talk and submit it before the convention. However, we will (most likely) not reject submissions during the review process, but rather use this procedure to provide more structural feedback to the participants rather than only ad-hoc feedback during the talks.
Please send your submissions by email to submission(at)pet(dash)con(dot)org. The work should have 3 to 8 pages in DIN-A4 format. Please do submit PDF-Files, if possible. Together with a copy of your work please provide us with the following information:
- Your name and affiliation
- Names of additional authors
- E-Mail address and telephone number
- Your consent to publish your Name and affiliation on this page (optional)
Your name and affiliation will be (with your consent) published on this web page; name, affiliation and email address will appear in the printed proceedings; the telephone number will be kept strictly internal and deleted after the workshop - its intended use is for urgent requests during the editing phase of the proceedings.
Submission of extended abstracts will be possible until March~8th, the reviews will be made available until March 12th. Camera ready copies must be re-submitted until March 18th (sharp!) in order to appear in the proceedings.
Note: Submissions are optional! You can give a talk without submitting an extended abstract beforehand. You can also passively attend the convention without giving a talk at all.
Registration
If you would like to attend the convention, please mail your name and affiliation to registration (at) pet-con (dot) org. Please do not forget to include the subject of your talk if you plan to present your work. Detailed information about the submission process will be published at the web site (www.pet-con.org) in due time.
Note that you may give a talk without submitting an extended abstract before the convention. You may also attend the convention without giving a talk at all.
