I like 90s and 2000s anime films, experimental styles, non-cliche dialogue, and gritty, mature stories and aesthetics. Not a big moe fan, with a couple of exceptions. Also not a fan of most battle shounen, light novel anime, romcoms, or anything with a "typical" anime style and feeling. Main exception being a show that is efficient and doesn't waste time about appealing to horny fantasies, which I appreciate and respect a lot more than shows that throw that stuff in there as an afterthought. Not trying to sound pretentious or judge anyone- just my personal taste.

Yeah go complete monster it is worth it
It made me actually install the game. hopefully that won't ruin it lmao
I can't get enough of the "mythological legend" sort of tone in a story. it's so damn good.
yeah, considering he waited ten years I can understand the desperation. hope he learns a lesson, dreaming of the anime is better than this.
at least we have CSM anime at some point and Part 2 next week to ease the pain
The absolute pity I feel for any anime-onlys. I'm not sure I would even be able to appreciate how well the character development is handled if I first saw it through this.
at least it's getting me back in the mood to finally finish the last few volumes of SY.
Also idk if it's just me but the setting and art give strong tokyo ghoul vibes, although the tone is quite different.
I had never heard that the hope was a classic Gainax anime with the Pillows until now, so reading it fresh off of a FLCL rewatch with the OST on loop made it totally click (esp saw parallels with Eva/FLCL/TTGL).
feel any hope for the anime? I'm worried given the director and suddenness of the airing, but if it at least nails the atmosphere and emotional moments I could consider forgiving a lack of sakuga in the crazy fights
I've been rewatching some anime too, actually just finished up a rewatch of Fate Zero, which went great for me! What have you been getting into lately?
I actually dont know how i stumbled across you, i was doing a deep wiki type dive on the MAL and browsing loads of profiles and managed to come across yours. You had a pretty cool profile with similar tastes to mine.
