The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 11, 2014. Stephanie Bice and Mark Thomas defeated Leif Francel in the Republican primary. Bice defeated Thomas in the August 26 primary runoff, leaving her unchallenged in the general election.[2][3][4]
