Recall supporters

The recall effort was organized by Rosemarie Swartout. Petitions stated that, "Inland Township Clerk Rose Wirth has violated her statutory duty by not posting notification of the Oct. 27 2022 special meeting of the Inland Township official website as required by the Open Meetings Act."[2]

No specific grounds are required for recall in Michigan. To get a recall on the ballot in Michigan, recall supporters must collect signatures equal in number to 25% of voters in the jurisdiction in the last gubernatorial election. They have 60 days between the collection of the first signature and the collection of the last signature on the petition. Recall petitions are eligible to collect signatures for 180 days.[3][4][5]

Recall organizers were required to submit at least 322 valid signatures to put the recall election against Wirth on the ballot. Petitioners turned in 409 signatures.[2]
