The Barn plot
"Trick-or-Treat, smell my feet... and DIE!"
Halloween, 1989. Best friends Sam and Josh try to enjoy their last Devil's Night before finishing high school. But problems arise when they decide to take a detour with a group of friends on their way to a rock concert. They stumble upon an old abandoned barn and awaken the evil inside. It's now up to Sam and Josh to protect their friends and stop the creatures in 'The Barn'.

Fans of retro/80s throwback films should be familiar with Scream Team Releasing. The Indiegogo for The Barn Part II is currently still running, so feel free to contribute. Their site still has BR/DVD releases of The Witching Season, The Sleeper, Bong of the Living Dead, Volumes of Blood, 10/31, Dude Bro Party Massacre (highly recommended!!) and many other great things. Mostly retro/anthology/halloween related work. The Barn is a great example of that.
That you don't immediately have a good film with just nice Halloween decorations, was proven by the more recent Candy Corn (2019) (also seen during last Halloween). The Barn fortunately not only surpasses that film in that area, but also keeps it a lot smoother overall. Visually a notch less, but that is not the focus. That is precisely what gives it more of a fan-film feeling, something you have to like. Full of references to other genre work and very self-aware in terms of humor and the appropriation of genre tropes. Combine that with sufficient gore and a successful retro atmosphere and then you have a great genre film that comes into its own perfectly within its 'kind'.

Great movie that seems to come from the 80's. The opening is absolutely fantastic. After that it gets a bit less for a while, but even then there is still enough to be entertaining. Then the kills continue and it becomes very cool again. Especially the last 20 minutes, despite the fact that it may indeed go on a bit too long as Joolstein says.
