Diego [Alberto Ammann] and Elena [Bruna Cusí] have just arrived from Madrid at the airport in Miami, where they hope to start a new chapter in their lives together. Diego looks nervous, Elena impatient. Nothing unusual for an immigrant. But then they are subjected to a so-called 'secondary check' and rigorous interrogation. Rojas and Vasquez use the camera almost unnoticed to visually communicate the changing emotions and relationships, aided by excellent performances from the two protagonists. The ironic final twist is the only downside.

Just like Den Skyldige (Film, 2018), the film will have cost little – much more than a table and a few actors working with you cannot see each other talking - but it is nevertheless fascinating from start to finish: initially the horror of airport customs, which everyone is familiar with, is made palpable because it is in any case intimidating that you are being investigated by authorities and you tend to you start to behave strangely and suspiciously if you consciously want to act normal, but later it turns out that the man in question is also hiding some things which makes it serious. In addition, the customs drama also becomes a relational drama because possible illegal immigration has to do with marriages of convenience and the like, so that even the most personal things have to be confessed. Exactly how things work legally and in terms of investigation routines is just as unclear to us as a viewer as it is to the interviewed couple, so that the viewer is also unsure about the outcome and almost breaks out in a sweat while at the same time it is routine for the customs officials - their work – and they seem to be more bothered by the repair work on the shop floor than by the severity of their decision that determines the future of the respondent.

All in all, the film looks realistic and reminds us that for many people from less pleasant countries, a border crossing is not just a passage where you wave your passport, but a test on which everything depends. Just like with Den Skyldige, there are also reality programs about the same work, but the film adds a dramatic charge that makes the film worth making and watching.

A film that takes place entirely at an airport and has absolutely nothing to offer audiovisually. And yet it works.

The excellent acting carries this film. Especially the non-verbal, the facial expressions, is very well done. In addition, you are perfectly drawn into the stressed airport atmosphere. Endless checks, grumpy officials, cold rooms. You suddenly feel the urge to cancel your next flight.

In less than an hour and a half, a growing drama unfolds based on increasingly probing interrogations. And all this in exceptional modesty. No shouting, no slamming of doors, not even music. Cold and oppressive but never boring for a moment. And yet quite a surprising ending.
