The Man Who Saved Christmas plot
"He couldn't stop the war, but he wouldn't let the war stop Christmas."
During the First World War, the government asks AC Gilbert, the inventor of meccano toys, to convert his toy factory into a factory where war equipment is manufactured. He agrees, but can't bring himself to stop making toys. He will do that from his own home.
