Torpedo plot
"Deep dive to survive"
1943. A band of Flemish rebels manage to hijack a German U-boat. With this they are trying to transport the uranium promised by Belgium from Congo to the United States. A mission that can determine the outcome of the war.

'Gekloot in den Duikboot' by the Antwaarps Theater.
A Flemish-style war film with the necessary clichés and humour. It's clumsy and I don't always see if it was intentional or if this is the result of low budget. It remains ambitious to make such a film about a submarine in Flanders. So daring and also for a kind of blockbuster instead of a kind of drama, which you would rather expect from our country.
The film is not that special, the dialogues seem to be improvised on the spot. Lucky in the dialect, Flemish soldiers in General Dutch would sound totally weird. But the Flemish humor does have something with moments and the action is not too bad. In the end, I still enjoyed this movie.

Submariners.
It should come as no surprise that this does not result in a stilted epic and is sometimes not too credible. Still, Huybrechts manages to make a nice film out of it, with finely sinister Germans, brave Belgians and some people who navigate nicely in between. And a few incredibly blunt scenes to give the whole thing some color and to catch some media attention on top of that. Nice brightly colored images, nicely fluently told and don't take it too seriously.
In short, pleasant viewing, and I'm curious what Huybrechts will show next, and hopefully with a better script and a little more budget.

My expectations weren't that high here either, but I was actually pleasantly surprised. I thought it was going to be a serious film, but the atmosphere was a bit lighter than expected, especially in the beginning.
The story was not boring and was also exciting at times.
The cast also did a great job and another plus that the Germans also spoke German.
Furthermore, the film looked good, just like the running time, not too long and not too short.
