Very mediocre.

The mix of sci-fi and superhero events in particular makes this film feel like a TV pilot rather than a real movie. I don't think it's a successful mix in any case, but within a 100-minute film not really enough time to do justice to the plot and the characters.

It quickly lapses into "mutants" with simple powers such as fire, electricity, etc. And then of course a plot where the "normal" people try to control the mutants with some leglislation and extra blue on the street. In any case, it is not very original.

The effects are still quite nice, but the acting is somewhat below par and the plot doesn't really grab it either. What remains is a short genre film that tries to bring something different, but it would have been better to focus on the stylization instead of the premise. One to quickly forget, but still doable for a quick look.

Pretty good SF movie. A kind of X-Men meets Freaks meets...

By this I mean, we live in a world where superpowered people are outnumbered and tracked down by a sophisticated police system or marginalized in such a way that there is no chance for money and life. So let's go into crime...

The need seems to be great in this case, because Conner's mother is dying, and some robberies have to be committed for that.

Although the action scenes, techniques, flying robot cops and settings are doable, this is a bit far-fetched. Apparently the director had stuck to the idea more than a well-run story.

But for Netflix entertainment, it doesn't get in the way.

Made with few resources, but nevertheless visually attractive mixture of science fiction and crime film. Content-wise, plot and theme bounce in all directions and the acting is only reasonable, but Code 8 still manages to captivate for the most part, not least because of the careful camera work and the fine special effects. Not a high-flyer, but given the budget constraints, not bad at all.
