It doesn't look like we'll be seeing any young Skywalker or Palpatine toddlers running around in the next Star Wars movie.
Daisy Ridley played the character of Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and reprised it in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
In April of 2023, it was announced that Rey would return in a new movie directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.
When asked by Ridley if old Star Wars characters might return alongside Rey, she played the question cool and also addressed whether Rey might have kids in the new movie, which takes place 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker.
"I know bits and bobs. I know there’s an introduction of new characters," the actress told Deadline. "I don’t know about previous characters.
"I would say she probably doesn’t have children seeing she’s a Jedi."
Daisy Ridley to return for new Star Wars movie
Ridley was convinced to return as Rey once she learned about the new story.
"So I thought about it for a little bit, and once I knew what the story was and everything, I knew it was something I really wanted to do," she explained to AlloCine.
"I think it’s a really fantastic exploration of the 'Star Wars' world. It’s a really cool way of taking the story on in a bit of a different direction."
Ridley previously admitted at being "petrified" at the prospect of returning as Rey, who proved a popular character among Star Wars fans during the sequel trilogy.
"When I was at Sundance, I did not know ... I had a breakfast with Kathy (Kennedy, Disney executive) that I thought was just breakfast," she told The Hollywood Reporter.
"And then it (the new movie) was mentioned, so I thought about it. I loved the story, and I was like, ‘Okay.’ Things then happened quite quickly, and it felt like I was instantaneously on a stage being introduced by Sharmeen.
"It honestly took me back to being 20 or 21, however old I was, when (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) was announced. I was petrified, I was overwhelmed, I was really nervous but the response was really wonderful."
