MOBILE, Ala. - Republican Bradley Byrne hit the airwaves on Thursday with a new TV ad touting his conservative credentials in the runoff-election for Alabama's 1st District congressional seat.

Byrne's new ad, titled "Blessed," highlights his Mobile roots as the son of a truck salesman and a bookkeeper.

"Alabama is full of hard-working people like my folks who deserve a government that spends less," Byrne says in the 30-second ad.

Byrne, of Montrose, faces Dean Young of Orange Beach in the Nov. 5 runoff election for the GOP nomination.

The winner will face Democrat Burton LeFlore of Mobile in the Dec. 17 general election. Independent candidate James Hall of Stapleton is also seeking access to the general election ballot.

Byrne led a field of nine Republican candidates in the Sept. 24 primary election, capturing 34 percent of the vote. Young finished second with 23 percent.
