Review No. 220 for 2025 Dedicated to my reviewer friend, Mutsuki, here’s a review from Saitama! On April 21st (Monday), after finishing my night shift, it was 7 AM. I thought it was a good day to go, and as they say, it’s easier to give birth than to worry about it. I had been wanting to visit Kasukabe City, where my friend Mutsuki is from, and now I’m heading to Hideko, located in the Kasukabe Market. Since I have another night shift starting at 5 PM, I want to make this a quick visit. I considered taking the highway, but since it takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes on regular roads, I decided to go that way. I passed by a new roadside station in Bandō City, crossed the Tone River, and then the Edo River, finally arriving in Kasukabe City at 8:20 AM. The market is not a closed space but rather an open area, and I parked right in front of Hideko. I expected it to be crowded, but there was only one customer ahead of me and one behind, so it was quite empty. How nice! From the extensive menu posted above the kitchen, I chose the very first item on the far right: "Maguro Butsu Set Meal" for JPY 1,000, tax included. It arrived in just about 3 minutes! The main dish was fresh tuna cubes, served with rice, miso soup, and pickles—an orthodox breakfast. I quickly dug in, mixing soy sauce with wasabi and generously pouring it over the hot rice. Wow, the fresh and flavorful tuna was delicious! The sharpness of the wasabi paired perfectly with the tuna and rice, making it truly delightful. The pickles and miso soup were also quite good, making for a blissful breakfast. Thank you for the meal! With over 70 items on the menu, it’s not the cheapest place, but the freshness and delicious, reliable flavors were top-notch!
