Travel with the Free Time Network Pass Day 2, Part 5: Day 3, Part 1] 〇◎●〇◎●〇◎●〇◎●〇◎●〇◎ After taking the "Limited Express Yufu in the Forest" and "Limited Express Relay Kamome" from Oita City, I arrived at Takeo Onsen Station. This business hotel boasts an excellent location right in front of the south exit of JR Takeo Onsen Station. This was my first time discovering this hot spring area during this trip. [b: <Check-In Time>] 15:00 - 22:00 The plan I booked via Jalan was: 【[b:Main Building] Non-Smoking Semi-Double Bedroom Free parking & breakfast! JPY 8,700】 [b: <Check-In>] I checked in just past 7 PM on Thursday with no waiting. [b: <My Room>] Main Building, 11-story building, Room 1110 on the 11th floor. The view from the room was fantastic, showcasing beautiful mountains far away due to few tall buildings. I could see the station platform and, in the distance, the direction of Takeo Onsen town. The threshold for the unit bath was a bit high, so I had to be careful when entering and exiting. The teacup provided in the room was absolutely lovely. Perhaps pottery is famous here, as there was a section for pottery sales at the Takeo Onsen Station shop. [b: <Buffet-Style Free Breakfast>] 1F Restaurant 'Hotomeki Clover' Available Hours: 6:30 AM - 9:30 AM At check-in, I was asked for my preferred time for the 30-minute rotation, and I chose 7 AM. [b: <My Breakfast>] I enjoyed breakfast from 7 AM on Friday. Perhaps due to the time limit, there were only about 10 guests, allowing me to choose my food leisurely. What I had for breakfast: Salad (leafy greens, wakame, corn, broccoli, tomato), grilled mackerel, okara, tamagoyaki, sausages, macaroni salad, cucumber pickles, dried daikon, fried stuffed peppers, chilled tofu, and rice. The selection was incredible for a free breakfast at a budget hotel. I enjoyed it very much! Duration of stay in the breakfast area: 20 minutes. [b: <Large Public Bath>] Annex 8th floor, Large Public Bath 'Sento no Yu' Bathing Hours: 15:00 - 24:00, 6:00 - 9:30 After dining at "[a:41007150, Fisherman's Diner]", I used the bath twice—around 9 PM and again at 6 AM. With both indoor and outdoor baths, the hot spring water was thick and soothing. Ah, there’s nothing like a hot spring! I soaked comfortably in the pleasantly warm water. [b: <Morning Bath After Breakfast>] After breakfast, I took my towel and other bath essentials along with some change and walked for about 15 minutes to "Takeo Onsen Romon". At the entrance to the hot spring, there’s a beautiful vermilion Taira-style gate, designed by Kengo Tatsuno, who also designed Tokyo Station. Although I had entered the hotel’s hot spring before breakfast, they say "This is the place to visit in Takeo Onsen!" so I had to try it. Inside, there are various baths, but the 'Moto-yu' is recommended. There are two types of indoor baths in the Moto-yu, and on that day, the women's bath had hot water at 45.5°C and lukewarm water at 42.5°C. The hot water was definitely too hot for me ( ﾟДﾟ). Even my feet couldn't handle it. Gazing up at the wooden ceiling while soaking in the bath was retro and absolutely lovely. I'm so glad I went and experienced it! [b: <Final Check-Out at 10 AM>] After my morning walk and bath, I returned to the hotel, rested, and checked out at 9:50 AM.
