While not at all similar in thematic, these are two anime with two socially anxious and introverted protagonists who, throughout the story, face their fears and insecurities in an attempt to become a better person. The casts are varied, and the humor is at times rather similar, particularly in the main characters' reactions to social events.

Both Honey Lemon Soda and Horimiya are classic shoujo anime that center around school life and romance. The female and male protagonists in both series share a similar timid and anxious personality, often facing bullying. Their personal growth improvres thanks to love interest and the supportive friend groups these leads introduce them to. These positive influences encourage them to step outside their comfort zones and develop as individuals

Both main characters fall in love with the popular guy at school. Although they grow close and share feelings for each other, they struggle with the lingering shadows of their past relationships, making it difficult to move forward. Both anime fall under the shoujo, school life, and romance genres, but Bokura leans more toward drama, while Honey maintains a more positive tone.

Both anime feature a female protagonist struggling with social anxiety. She sits next to the most popular guy in school, who helps her open up and gain confidence. As a shoujo romance, their relationship deepens over time, leading them to realize their feelings for each other. Along the way, they have a supportive friend who encourages their growth. Both stories focus on self-discovery and becoming a better version of oneself.
