Synopsis

With a new school year comes a new crowd of classmates, and for their final year of junior high, aspiring writer Kotarou Azumi and track team member Akane Mizuno end up in the same class. Though initially complete strangers, a few chance encounters stir an innocent desire within their hearts. A yearning gaze, a fluttering heart—the hallmarks of young love slip into their lives as fate brings their paths to a cross.

However, though love is patient and love is kind, Kotarou and Akane discover it is not always straightforward. Despite the comfort they find in each other's company, heartache and anxiety come hand in hand with pursuing the feelings in their hearts. With the uncertainty of how the other truly feels as well as the competing affections of those around them, the road ahead is unclear. Even so, under the shining light of a beautiful full moon, Kotarou gathers his courage to ask Akane a single question, one that forever changes their quiet relationship.

Reviews

I'm not going to write a very long review because there are just a few things to say, like: this anime is for people who, like me, enjoy slow and realistic romance.

While the animation isn't particularly impressive, its simple style perfectly complements the story.

Additionally, the anime offers a deep insight into Japanese culture, showcasing elements like school traditions, the importance of seasons, and subtle social interactions, adding a layer of authenticity and cultural connection

The characters are endearing, although their development could have been deeper.

In short, if you enjoy slow and realistic romcoms and are interested in Japanese culture, Tsuki ga Kirei is an excellent ...

Mixed Feelings
Tsuki Ga Kirei is an anime that left me with very mixed feelings.
As an introvert person who also struggles with social anxiety, I could relate a lot to the main characters' awkwardness, and it felt refreshing to see an anime with shy main characters, but I think the show portrayed introverts in a quite stereotipical way. Okay, they're shy, but sometimes it felt like they have nothing going on in their brain.
The two main charachters didn't have much connection, and their convo topics were incredibly boring. I just can't convince myself they're really made for each other.
The plot itself was also ...

Immersive in Japanese culture. That’s the only notable positive point I found. The story is empty, written in five seconds—a romance as simple as possible, with no interest. Everything that happens in this anime is just predictable and as generic as it gets. It’s a story that happens all the time, every day, so personally, I see no point in following a story I already know. The characters are empty, predictable, and not engaging—nothing more to say.

That being said, there are still some beautiful Japanese landscapes, traditional dances, etc. So, for those who love Japan and enjoy simple stories, you might be able ...
