Black Bullet

In the year 2021, a parasitic virus known as "Gastrea" infects humans and turns them into monsters. What is left of mankind now lives within the Monolith walls, walls that are made of Varanium, the only material that can hurt Gastrea.

To counter the threat that the Gastrea pose, "Cursed Children"—female children whose bodies contain trace amounts of the virus which grant them superhuman abilities—officially called Initiators by the Tendo Civil Security, are given partners called Promoters, people who work to guide and protect the young Initiators. These teams of two are sent out on missions to fight the monsters created by the Gastrea virus and keep them at bay.

Black Bullet revolves around the team of Enju Aihara, an Initiator, and Satomi Rentaro, a Promoter, as they go on missions to fight the growing threat of Gastrea in their hometown of Tokyo.

I just binge-watched Black Bullet and I'm still trying to process everything! This anime completely drew me in with its gritty, other world and non-stop action.

I loved watching Rentaro and Enju's partnership grow. it reminded me of those rare friendships that actually make a difference. And those action scenes? Mind-blown. Yeah most of them were sacrifices. The animation was good.

What struck a chord with me, though, was how the show tackled real-world issues like prejudice and exploitation. It made me think about how we treat others, especially those who are different.

Of course, no show's perfect. Some episodes felt rushed, while others dragged. I wished ... they'd delved deeper into the Gasteria virus and the world's history and that kikunojo guy.

Still, Black Bullet left me breathless. If you're like me and love sci-fi action with substance, add this to your watchlist.

Mixed Feelings

"Black Bullet" is an anime that evokes mixed feelings as I watch it. The story's premise, set in a post-apocalyptic world where humanity is threatened by the Gastrea virus, is intriguing and sets the stage for intense action and suspense. Rentaro Satomi's character is compelling, driven by a strong sense of justice and a desire to protect those around him.

However, the anime also delves into darker themes such as discrimination and loss, which can be emotionally taxing. The relationship between Rentaro and Enju, while heartwarming, also highlights the harsh realities of their world and the sacrifices they must make to survive.

Visually, "Black Bullet" is well-executed, ... with beautifully animated action sequences and a detailed post-apocalyptic setting that enhances the overall atmosphere of the anime. The soundtrack complements the tone of the series, adding to its immersive nature.

Overall, "Black Bullet" is a complex and engaging anime that offers a mix of thrilling action and emotional depth. While it may not be suitable for everyone due to its darker themes and little bit of loli fanservice ( very little bit of ). It is a compelling watch for those who enjoy dystopian stories.

Back then, I truly enjoyed some of the battle/fight scenes but now I realized that I always felt disgusted by the promiscuous lolicon relationship the protagonist had with the lolis, comes a bit of a fan-service as well since it's a harem. It is said the author has moved on from this anime, the apocalyptic fast-pace and having mutated children be the frontier of their battles was a unique concept on it's own but overall, this was poorly executed but hey I can't write and draw like the author does so who am I to criticize. Either way, this show had potential but if you're ... looking for something to watch to kill time, there are a lot more fun things to do than watching this.
