I used to be an elitist. Now I rate shows based on overall enjoyment. My top 10 favorites are ordered from top to bottom in my favorite anime and characters below

For me criteria for anime to be enjoyable is (in order) as follows-
- Enjoyment
- Overall Direction and Storytelling
- Quality Story & Characters
- Setting and Themes
- Sound Effects and Music
- Rewatchability

(I only watch anime less than a 100 episodes in total, no matter how good the show is)

Favorite Genres -
1) Realistic Romance with deeper themes

2) Science Fiction (espescially realistic hard sci-fi such as time travel, parallel worlds)/ Thriller

3) Psychological / Slice of Life / Drama / Comedy

Notes:-

I tend to rate short anime (<30 episodes) better than longer anime (>30 episodes) in general

I tend to rate shows with realism a bit higher

I generally don't like the follwing genres-
Action /Shounen /Ecchi /Harem /Reverse Harem
