'Shibou Yuugi de Meshi wo Kuu.' Announces Main Staff for January 2026
The official X (formely Twitter) account of the Shibou Yuugi de Meshi wo Kuu. (Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table) television anime revealed the main staff and a character visual (pictured) on Saturday. The anime series adapting Yuushi Ukai's action suspense light novel will begin airing in January 2026.

Ukai began penning the action suspense novel under the MF Bunko J imprint in November 2022, featuring illustrations by Necometal. Kadokawa published the seventh volume in September last year, with the eighth volume planned for a February 25 release. The light novel has a cumulative 230,000 copies of its volumes in print, including digital editions.
Monthly Comp Ace began serializing a manga adaptation by Banzai Kotobuki Daienkai in April 2023. Kadokawa released the second volume in July last year, with the third volume scheduled for a February 26 release.
Yen Press licensed the light novel in English in July 2023 and released the first volume in June last year. The third volume will go on sale on February 18.
Shibou Yuugi de Meshi wo Kuu. won the Excellence Award at the 18th MF Bunko J Light Novel Newcomer Award in November 2022 and placed second in the Bunkobon category in the 2024 Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! rankings.

That is a really complicated design for a main character; just imagine all the resources the hair animation will take up. It looks pretty good though, and it seems like the source material is decent as well. Could be fun.
