Visually this has Eggers plastered all over it - the gothic aesthetic, an enchanting nightfall, snow-laden landscape in dark grey and black etc., but knowing F.W. Murnau's original 1922 iteration does the same thing just doesn't make this stand-out in any way. And I wasn't a fan of this modern Substance-esque version of Orlok with his godawful moustache and 0.75x speech; his figure shrouded in darkness until the very end.
