New Future Of Stardom Champion Crowned In Yokohama

Less than a year into her run with Stardom, Mina Shirakawa finds herself a double champion having clinched her Stardom first singles title at the ‘Yokohama Dream Cinderella in Summer’ show this past weekend.

Already one-third of the winningest Artist of Stardom (trios) Champions in history, alongside fellow Cosmic Angles Tam Nakano and Unagi Sakaya, Mina and Unagi faced off in the finals of the Future of Stardom Championship tournament.

With the belt having been vacated by Saya Iida due to injury earlier this year, the stablemates had previously fended off the likes of Hina, Rina, Hanan, Ruaka and Lady C en route to the finals.

In an emotional encounter, the pair went back and forth across fifteen-plus minutes of action before Mina landed the decisive blow via her Implant DDT.

The victory represents Mina’s first singles championship win since joining Stardom in October 2020, and only the second singles title of her entire career.

For Unagi, her wait to win ‘the big one’ continues, as despite having persevered through a hellacious ‘trial’ series earlier in 2021, where she wrestled some of Stardom’s fiercest competitors, a signature singles victory remains elusive.

That said, she may not have too long to wait, as Stardom has announced the brackets for this year’s 5 Star Grand Prix tournament, in which Unagi will have her other Cosmic Angels teammate, Tam Nakano, to contend with in the Blue Stars Block.
