Screnock is a judge of the Sauk County Circuit Court in Wisconsin. He was appointed by Governor Scott Walker on April 10, 2015.[1] Screnock won a full term in the general election on April 5, 2016.[2]
Biography
Michael Screnock graduated from Baraboo High School. He earned a B.S. in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1990, an M.B.A. with an emphasis in urban economic development from Eastern College in 1992, and a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2006. Screnock’s career experience includes working as the city administrator of Washburn, Wisconsin, finance director of Ashland, Wisconsin, and attorney with the law firm of Michael Best & Friedrich, where he helped to defend Act 10, or the "Scott Walker Budget Repair Bill".[1][3]

The 241 judges of the Wisconsin Circuit Courts are elected in nonpartisan elections to six-year terms. All judges must run for re-election if they wish to continue serving after their term expires.[4]
The chief judge of each circuit court is chosen by the state supreme court to serve a two-year term.[4]
Qualifications
To serve on the circuit courts, a judge must be:[4]
- a qualified elector in the state;
- a qualified elector of his or her circuit (for circuit judges); and
- licensed to practice law in the state for at least five years.
