Matt Claman (Democratic Party) is a member of the Alaska State Senate, representing District H. He assumed office on January 17, 2023. His current term ends on January 16, 2029.
Claman (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Alaska State Senate to represent District H. He won in the general election on November 5, 2024.
Biography
Matt Claman lives in Anchorage, Alaska. Claman graduated from West Anchorage High School. He earned a B.A. in history from Colorado College in 1981 and a J.D. from the University of Texas Law School in 1987. His career experience includes working as an attorney and law school teacher at the University of Alaska Anchorage. He is also a licensed emergency medical technician (EMT) and professional wilderness guide.[1]
Claman joined the board of governors of the Alaska Bar Association in 2002. Claman began serving on the Anchorage Assembly in 2007, including as chair. He became the acting mayor of Anchorage in 2009.[1]
