Martin Harty
Martin Harty was a Republican member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives. He represented Strafford 3 from 2010 to 2011.

Resignation after "defective people" remarks
Harty reportedly told a constituent that the disabled should be shipped to Siberia. Harty also said society would be better off without "the mentally ill, the retarded, people with physical disabilities and drug addictions - the defective people."[1] The constituent, Sharon Omand, responded that this sounded like a position Hitler might take. Harty acknowledged that he agreed with Hitler on the issue. He resigned on March 14, 2011, after saying he had only made the comments in jest.[2]

Harty advanced past the September 14 primary election.
