Linda Hardee
Linda Hardee was a Republican candidate in the 2011 special election for District 47 of the Louisiana House of Representatives. The seat was vacated when Jonathan Perry (R) was elected to the Louisiana State Senate in the special election on February 19.
Hardee is a teacher and former mayor of Kaplan, Louisiana. She is also vice president of Hardee Home Center in Gueydan. Hardee was named Kaplan Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year in 2009. She and her husband, Stan, have three children.[1]
Campaign theme
2011
On her 2011 campaign Facebook page, Hardee outlined her policy platform:
- "As State Representative, I will bring the same tireless work ethic and vision for the future to the people of District 47 as I brought to Kaplan's citizens while I was mayor. I will bring fiscally conservative leadership to the legislature, work to improve our roads, fight for coastal restoration, promote farming and economic development, and defend the conservative family values that define us. As a former school teacher, I have not only talked about advocating a better future for our children, I have lived it. And when I am elected, I will be the strongest voice for our children’s future in Baton Rouge."
Elections
2011
Hardee was defeated by fellow Republican Bob Hensgens in the April 30 special election. Since only two candidates qualified for the ballot, no runoff election was necessary.[2]
