Elections in Washington, D.C., are run by the District of Columbia Board of Elections. The DC board of elections consists of three board members appointed by the mayor for three-year terms. It also has an executive director, a general counsel, and other staff members.[1]
In Washington, D.C., ballot measures can be put on the ballot through referral by the D.C. city council or through a citizen initiative process.
