Janis Ringhand (Democratic Party) was a member of the Wisconsin State Senate, representing District 15. She assumed office on January 5, 2015. She left office on January 3, 2023.

Ringhand (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Wisconsin State Senate to represent District 15. She won in the general election on November 6, 2018.

Ringhand was first elected to the chamber in 2014. Ringhand served in the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing District 45 from 2010 to 2015. Ringhand served as minority caucus secretary from 2013 to 2015.[1]

Biography

Ringhand is a graduate of Madison Area Technical College in 1985, and is a former accountant.

Ringhand was mayor of Evansville from 2002 to 2006, after serving as an alderwoman from 1998 to 2002 and president of city council from 2000 to 2002.[2]

Elections for 17 seats in the Wisconsin State Senate took place in 2014. A primary election took place on August 12, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 2, 2014. Janis Ringhand defeated Austin Scieszinski and Mike Sheridan in the Democratic primary. Brian Fitzgerald ran unopposed in the Republican primary. Ringhand defeated Fitzgerald in the general election.[3][4][5]

Ringhand won re-election in the 2012 election for Wisconsin State Assembly District 45. Ringhand defeated Sheila De Forest in the Democratic primary on August 14 and defeated Beth Schmidt (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[6][7]
