Jobs and the Economy

  • Excerpt: "We need to support and encourage small business. Small business is at the grass roots of our economy. We also need to support our big business."

Local Veterans

  • Excerpt: "Our servicemen and veterans went and fought on the front lines. When they come home, they have to wait in line. They fought for our freedom. We need to fight for their earned rights. They fought to the end for us and prevailed. We need to fight to the end for them and do the same."

Education

  • Excerpt: "Our education system needs serious reform. Our children need to be able to compete with the world. We have been losing ground for many years. We need to reverse this documented trend."

Mining and Natural Resources

  • Excerpt: "The mining companies are what made the Iron Range the success that it is today. If we don't encourage and support them and they go out of business, our Iron Range will be known as the Ghost Range. Our natural resources also include camping, fishing, hunting, snowmobile trails and a much-needed four-wheeler trail system."

Health Care

  • Excerpt: "I believe everyone in our country deserves to have health care. The Affordable Health Care Act plan needs some serious revisions that will not be able to be revised over night. I feel if it's not reformed to where our country can afford it will break our country."

Elections for the Minnesota House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election was held on August 12, 2014, and a general election took place on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 3, 2014. Incumbent Carly Melin defeated John Finken in the Democratic primary. Roger Weber was unopposed in the Republican primary. Melin defeated Weber in the general election.[3][4][5]
