Hank Davis
Hank Davis was a Democratic Party candidate in a 2011 special election for District 19 of the Virginia State Senate. The special election took place on January 11, 2011.
He has also served on the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors, including a stint as chairman.
Biography
Davis graduated from Cave Spring High School. He earned his A.B. in business administration from the College of William and Mary and a J.D. from Stetson University Law School. His professional experience includes working in the banking and life insurance industries, and as an attorney in private practice.

Davis' 2011 special election campaign site highlighted the following campaign themes:
- Jobs are Priority One: "Working with elected officials in Pittsylvania County and Danville, I have been a part of the effort to bring thousands of jobs to Pittsylvania County and Danville. I will go to Richmond and tell my colleagues and state officials we have more work to do in the 19th District. My opponent says government doesn't create jobs. He doesn't understand the job that government plays with incentives to bring jobs to our community. We have the Governor's Opportunity Fund and we have the Tobacco Commission which has invested millions of dollars to buy and develop land, build industrial parks and build water and sewer lines - all of these incentives are vital and we would not be able to do it without government funding. If we stop offering incentives, these businesses and industries will go to another area. I will be a pro-business Senator who knows what small and large businesses need to operate and thrive in our district."
- Opposition to Uranium Mining in Commonwealth: "Creating more, good-paying jobs in our area is an important reason why I'm running for the State Senate and that won't happen if uranium mining happens... Uranium mining will change Pittsylvania County and our area forever. I oppose uranium mining because of the health, environmental and other hazardous effects on the community. We won't get the jobs uranium supporters promise. I'm concerned about the watershed being polluted from overflow from holding ponds. Blasting near the site can damage home foundations and ruin underground wells. One of my concerns is that Chatham Hall and Hargrave Military Academy will lose students. Who will want to move here with an open-pit mine so close to Chatham? I will uphold the moratorium on uranium mining - that is why the Virginia League of Conservation Voters and the Sierra Club of Virginia endorsed me."
- Education: "A good education is the key to the future. You start learning when you are a child and you continue to learn throughout your life. Our children need a solid educational foundation to prepare them for the jobs of the future. Not everyone needs a college education to find a good job. That is why technical and vocational education is needed, so our workforce will have the skills for the jobs coming to our area."
- Opposition to Private Liquor Stores and Sweepstakes Gambling Shops: "The General Assembly needs to act quickly to prevent ABC stores from being privatized. We need to close the loophole that allows gambling dens to operate in our community. I have this concern that we're going to see strip malls with a place you can get a cash advance, have a liquor store and a gambling establishments all in one area. This will create huge problems for the people who have to live near these eyesores, increase crime and would require more law enforcement officers to patrol these areas when they could be patrolling our neighborhoods keeping our families safe."
