Gwendolyn McClure
Gwendolyn McClure was a candidate in the 2011 special election for District 12 of the Mississippi State Senate. The special election took place on March 1, 2011. McClure was running to fill the vacancy created when Johnnie Walls (D) was elected to the Circuit Court.
McClure has worked as a state education auditor for the last 15 years. A Boyle native, she graduated from Cleveland High School, going on to graduate from Mississippi Valley State University and Delta State University.[1]

McClure was defeated by Derrick Simmons in the March 1, 2011 special election.[2] In Mississippi, no party ID appears on the special election ballot. If Simmons had not received a majority of votes, a runoff would have be held March 22, 2011.[3]
