Dean Cannon is a former Republican member of the Florida House of Representatives, representing District 35 from 2004 to 2012. He served as speaker of the House.

Cannon's professional experience includes working as an attorney, general counsel to the Orange County 2000 Charter Review Commission, chair of the Board of Directors of Life for Kids Adoption Agency in 2004, and serving on the Board of Trustees of the Orlando Science Center from 1998-2004.[1]

Cannon did not provide answers to the Florida State Legislative Election 2008 Political Courage Test. The test informs voters how a candidate would vote on the issues if elected.[2]

  • HB 459 - "Corporate Income Tax: Deletes specified provisions relating to federal amendments to federal law dealing with bonus depreciation for purposes of adjusted federal income & corporate income tax liability"

Cannon ran for re-election to the 35th District seat in 2010. He did not have any opposition in the August 24 primary. Cannon defeated Amy Mercado, who ran for the seat on the Democratic ticket and Juanita Virone, who ran for the Florida Tea Party. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.[5]
