Thomas was a 2014 Independence Party of America candidate seeking election to the U.S. House to represent the 4th Congressional District of Minnesota.[1] Thomas ran uncontested for the Independence nomination in the primary on August 12, 2014.[2] He was defeated by incumbent Betty McCollum (D) in the general election on November 4, 2014.[3]

Thomas was also a 2012 Independence candidate for District 66A of the Minnesota House of Representatives.

Biography

Dave Thomas was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Army from 1999 to 2009. Thomas earned an associate degree from Saint Paul College in 2010 and a bachelor's degree from Concordia University, Saint Paul in 2015. His career experience includes working as a high school economics and government teacher and Falcon Heights firefighter and coach. He has also worked for the Falcon Heights Parks Commission.[4]
