Catherine M. Brunson is a judge of the 15th Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. She was appointed by former Governor Lawton Chiles on August 3, 1994 and was elected to a full term the following November. She replaced the late Michael Gersten. Her current term expires in January of 2019.[1][2][3][4]

Education

Brunson was born in Tallahassee, Fla. on September 6, 1950. She received her undergraduate and J.D. degrees from Florida State University in 1972 and 1974, respectively.[5][6]

Career

Brunson, early in her career, worked as an Assistant Public Defender, as Counsel to the State Retirement Commission, and as a private practice lawyer with Tom Montgomery. She then spent seven years as an Assistant Palm Beach County Attorney. After that, she ran her own law practice, first in Delray Beach, then in West Palm Beach. She was appointed to the circuit court in 1994.[2][6]

2012 election

Brunson was unopposed and automatically re-elected following the primary election on August 14, 2012.[7]
