This measure sought to renew the current county transportation levy which is set at a rate of $.50 per $1,000 of assessed property value for a further five years in order to continue to provide transportation services in the county.[1]
Text of measure
The question on the ballot:
For the purpose of renewing and continuing funding for the Benzie Transportation Authority in Benzie County at the same millage level approved by the voters in 2006, shall the tax limitation on general ad valorem taxes within the County of Benzie imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution be renewed at 0.4912 of one (1) mill, and shall the previously authorized reduced millage of 0.0088 of one (1) mill be restored, for a return to the previously voted total limitation increase of 0.5000 mill ($0.5000 per $1,000 of Taxable Value) for a period of five (5) years (2011 – 2015) inclusive?
If approved and levied in full, this millage will raise an estimated $541,246 for Public Transportation Services purposes in the first calendar year of the levy.[2] |
