Aileen Abrams was raised in Newington, CT. She attended Newington High School and later attended CUNY in New York. She most recently held a position as a Relationship Manager and Small Business Advisor for Santander Bank N.A.

She decided to run for office after the reopening of Connecticut began in June of 2020. The idea was initially prompted by the unprecedented number of requests to apply for small business relief under the federal CARES Act. In her position at the bank she helped as many applicants as she could for the first and second rounds of funding through the Paycheck Protection Program(PPP), but it was clear to her from the beginning that the dollar amount each business received under the act, was not enough. The small business owners she worked with did not have sufficient rainy day funds to get them through the spring. She saw they were living week-to-week while putting their employee's livelihoods above their own.

She believes the State of Connecticut has a responsibility to provide every resident a realistic path to financial stability especially through times of uncertainty.
  • Even though the Affordable Care Act provided coverage for an approximate 200,000 Connecticut citizens through the expansion of Connecticut's Medicaid known as Husky D, we need a cost-effective solution for everyone not just those who meet certain income guidelines. We must provide (a) low-cost coverage option(s) for all our citizens at the state level now.
  • We need to provide all students the right foundation to grow and develop into productive members of society. It begins by closing the opportunity gaps created by our current public school system and unaffordable higher education.
  • We have a responsibility to ensure our citizens are able to make a livable wage in Connecticut. This requires more than incrementally raising the minimum wage every couple of years. We need to create an attractive business environment.
