Campaign themes

2015

The following is a sample of issues which were taken from Lopez's campaign website:[6]

  • Jobs/Economy: "I’m a strong believer in fiscal responsibility; rebuilding our infrastructure and capitalizing on clean-energy and new technologies that will help us grow the Illinois economy and create jobs. It is important that we restore fairness and opportunity to the economy. I believe the way forward is to offer tax incentives to small businesses that are employing new workers following long-term unemployment. I also think we need to increase low interest loans and grants for small businesses. We also have to make sure we are providing employees the opportunity to up-skill. I also believe that any man or woman, doing the same job, should receive equal pay and benefits. I am pro union."
  • Healthcare: "I believe in the Affordable Care Act (ACA); that every citizen has the right to affordable health insurance. The number of uninsured has dropped by 10 million in just one year. Millions of Americans now have access to preventative services like vaccines, cancer screenings and annual wellness visits with no out of pocket costs. Healthcare price inflation is at its lowest rate in 50 years."
  • Immigration Reform: "As the grandson of an immigrant, and a Hispanic, I believe in the American dream. My grandmother came to this country to provide her family the opportunity for a better life and that’s why I am running for Congress. I believe we need to create a pathway to legal status and eventually citizenship."
