Walt Leger III
Walt Leger III is a former Democratic member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, representing District 91 from 2008 to 2020. He served as Speaker of the House Pro Tempore beginning in 2012.
Leger was unable to run for re-election in 2019 due to term limits.
Biography
Leger earned his B.A. in political science from Louisiana State University and his J.D. from Tulane University Law School. His professional experience includes working as an attorney.

Elections for the Louisiana House of Representatives took place in 2015. A primary election was held on October 24, 2015, with a general election held in districts where necessary on November 21, 2015. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was September 10, 2015, at 4:30 p.m. CDT.[1]
Louisiana elections use the Louisiana majority-vote system. All candidates compete in the same primary, and a candidate can win the election outright by receiving more than 50% of the vote. If no candidate does, the top two vote recipients from the primary advance to the general election, regardless of their partisan affiliation.

On October 22, 2011, Leger won re-election to District 91 of the Louisiana House of Representatives. He ran unopposed in the October 22 primary election, assuring his re-election.

In 2007, Leger was elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives. He defeated Judy Phillips-Baloie.[4]
