Washington Initiative 18 was on the ballot as an initiative to the legislature in Washington on November 7, 1916. It was defeated.

A "yes" vote supported removing restrictions on households purchasing alcohol and home consumption and authorizing the production and sale of malt liquor, the selling of alcohol at hotels, and the licensing of brewers.

Ballot title

The ballot title for Initiative 18 was as follows:

An act relating to alcohoIic liquor; to remove burdensome restrictions upon the rights of householders to purchase and keep on hand alcoholic beverages for home consumption; to authorize the manufacture and sale of malt liquor; to authorize the furnishing of alcoholic beverages to guests in hotels; to authorize the granting of licenses to brewers, to their selling agents, and to hotel keepers; to restrict and regulate the business to be carried on under such licenses; declaring violations of such restrictions to be misdemeanors, and prescribing penalties therefor.
