Three races were determined by a margin of two votes, and one race was determined by a margin of three votes.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Nine of the 10 closest primaries were Republican primaries. The other was a nonpartisan, top-two race for a city council seat in California.
  • Eight of the races were for state house seats, one was for a city council seat, and one was for a county administrator office. No federal or statewide races had such close margins.
  • Three of the primaries involved incumbents, and all three incumbents won.
  • None of the 10 closest primaries occurred in the same state.
