Elections for 99 seats in the Tennessee House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on August 7, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 3, 2014. Sarah Marie Smith was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Incumbent Terri Lynn Weaver was unopposed in the Republican primary. Weaver defeated Smith in the general election.[2][1]

Smith ran in the 2012 election for Tennessee House of Representatives, District 40. Smith defeated Wesley Duane Hodges in the August 2 primary election and was defeated by incumbent Terri Lynn Weaver (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[3][4][5][6]
