The South Dakota State Lottery Amendment, also known as Amendment B, was on the November 4, 1986 ballot in South Dakota as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment, where it was approved. The measure permitted the legislature to authorize a state lottery to be regulated, owned and operated either by the state alone or in cooperation with one or more other states. The measure allowed the legislature to choose how to use the proceeds.[1][2]
