Rhode Island Question 3, Environmental Management Bonds (1998)
Rhode Island Question 3, also known as Environmental Management Bonds, was on the November 3, 1998 election ballot in Rhode Island. It passed, with 67.8% of voters in favor.
Text of measure
The language that appeared on the ballot said:
- "Approval of this question will authorize the State of Rhode island to issue its general obligation bonds, refunding bonds, and temporary notes, in an amount not to exceed $15,000,000 for environmental and recreational purposes, specifically for the acquisition and development of greenways. $5,000,000 would provide funds to the Department of Environmental Management for the purchase of land, development rights, and easements to protect the State of Rhode Island's natural and recreational resources, for the acquisition and development of greenways, and for the purchase of development rights by the Agricultural Land Preservation Commission to preserve farmland throughout the State. Approval and issuance of these bonds will also provide funds for the development of bikeways and recreational greenways throughout the State."
