Neal Lacy (Democratic Party) was a member of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School Board in Alaska, representing District 5.

Lacy (Democratic Party) ran for election to the Alaska House of Representatives to represent District 10. Lacy lost in the Alaska Democratic, Libertarian, and Independence parties primary on August 21, 2018.

Lacy previously served on the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School Board, representing District F. He was defeated for re-election by Donna Dearman on October 1, 2013. Lacy was first elected to the board in 2010.

Elections for the Alaska House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on August 19, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 2, 2014. Neal T. Lacy was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while District 7 incumbent Wes Keller was unopposed in the Republican primary. Keller defeated Lacy and Roger Purcell (nonpartisan) in the general election.[3][4][5][6]

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District is located approximately 35 miles north of Anchorage in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough in an area commonly known as the “Valley.” The district spans approximately 25,000 square miles, an area larger than the entire state of West Virginia. According to the 2010 Census it is home to approximately 88,995 residents.[10]


Demographics

Matanuska-Susitna Borough underperforms the rest of Alaska based on percentage of people below poverty level, but outperforms the rest of Alaska in high school graduation rates and median household income. The median household income for Matanuska-Susitna Borough is $70,343 when compared to $69,014 for the state of Alaska. The percentage of people below poverty level for Matanuska-Susitna Borough is 9.7% while it is 9.5% for the state of Alaska. 92.3% of persons over the age of 25 have a high school degree, while 91.4% of Alaska residents have a high school degree.
