Mike McGhee (b. September 19, 1947) was a 2016 Republican candidate for District 21 of the Missouri State Senate.

McGhee served in the Missouri House of Representatives, representing District 122 from 2005 to 2013.

Biography

McGhee is a farmer and real estate investor. He is a leader/counselor with the Boy Scouts of America, and a member of the Buckner Chamber of Commerce, First Baptist Church of Odessa, International 4-H Youth Exchange, Lafayette County Cattlemen’s Association, Missouri Farm Bureau, National Rifle Association, Odessa Chamber of Commerce, and the Rotary Club.

No New Taxes Pledge

A minority of Missouri lawmakers signed the 2011 edition of the "No New Taxes Pledge." The Taxpayer Protection Pledge is offered by the nonprofit lobbying organization Americans for Tax Reform with the goal of opposing all tax increases as a matter of principle. Just one out of 34 state Senate members signed the 2011 pledge. Out of 163 state House members, only 38 lawmakers signed.
