Michelle Rose Tippens (Libertarian Party) ran for election to the U.S. House to represent Hawaii's 2nd Congressional District. She lost in the general election on November 8, 2022.

Tippens is a disabled veteran. She served in the United States Army from 1998 until 2002 and functioned as a counterintelligence agent and an Arab linguist. She is the founder of the Hawaii Veteran's Cannabis Alliance.[1]

Tippens made the following statement to Ballotpedia regarding her political philosophy:[1]

I hope to end the paternalistic approach currently taken by the government. Laws are not meant to dictate how citizens live their lives. Laws are meant to prevent people from violating each other's rights.

I believe we, as organisms residing on this planet, owe the planet and environment our lives and we should be taking steps and making effort to protect this environment from significant change. The planet will continue on, as it always has, however we may not be able to survive upon it once significant climate change occurs. Even our atmosphere could become uninhabitable for humans if we don't start to Malama the 'Aina (care for/nurture/protect the land). [5]
