Michael McCuskey was a judge of the Illinois 10th Circuit Court. He assumed office on July 3, 2014. He left office in 2020.

McCuskey ran for re-election for judge of the Illinois 10th Circuit Court. He won in the general election on November 8, 2016.

McCuskey was appointed to the Illinois Tenth Judicial Circuit Court to fill a vacancy on the court starting on July 3, 2014, due to Judge Kevin Galley's retirement.[1]

Prior to being appointed to the Illinois court, he was a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois. He joined the federal court in 1998 after being nominated by President Bill Clinton. He served as chief judge from 2004 until 2012. He assumed senior status in June of 2013. McCuskey retired from the federal bench on May 31, 2014.[2][3]}}

Early life and education

McCuskey earned his B.S. from Illinois State University in 1970 and his J.D. from the Saint Louis University School of Law in 1975.[3]

On the recommendation of Senator Carol Mosley Braun, McCuskey was nominated by President Bill Clinton on July 31, 1997, to a seat vacated by Harold A. Baker as Baker assumed senior status. McCuskey was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on April 2, 1998, and received commission on April 3, 1998. McCuskey is the court's current Chief Judge[3] On June 30, 2013, Judge Michael McCuskey assumed senior status for the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois, where he had served for over 15 years.[4] McCuskey's career ended on the federal court when he retired on May 31, 2014.[3]
