What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
1. Equal Opportunity Lending/Housing and Finance Reform 2. Justice for the victims of senseless murders from law enforcement 3. Equal pay and equal rights for women and minorities in the workforce
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am extremely passionate about Health Care Reform. I am a licensed life and health insurance agent and know first hand the importance of keeping certain regulations in place for the benefit of the insured. Many people do not realize or even understand why Obamacare was so important for our nation.
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
I look up to Michelle Obama. I admire her courage and appreciate the example she has set for all women across the nation.
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
The characteristics most important is honesty and follow through. It is important for elected officials to do what they say they would do and not just to get votes.
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
I am the average every day working mom, business owner, wife and community leader. We look at life differently because we hold so much responsibility. I care about the people in our country and want to do what is best for us and not what is best for Washington. I am will create a voice on behalf of our working class, women and minorities. Most politicians on average come from well off backgrounds and I grew up in struggle so I know what its like to struggle and not have help.
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
The core responsibilities are possess the willingness to work with your constituents on regulation that will benefit the people without throwing party into the equation. Elected officials must set aside their personal agendas for the benefit of the people.
What legacy would you like to leave?
I will leave the legacy of a strong woman who was not afraid to step out on faith to do what is right.
What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?
911 was the most hurtful and impacting event of my lifetime that changed how I viewed the world. I was 17 years old.
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
My very first job was a line worker at a food restaurant at the age of 16. I remained working at that food restaurant until I was 17 a junior in High School.
What happened on your most awkward date?
Never really had an awkward date.
What is your favorite holiday? Why?
My favorite holiday Is Christmas because we celebrate our Savior Jesus Christ. He is a reminder that we must remain faithful that GOD loved us enough to send him to save us.
What is your favorite book? Why?
I actually do not have a favorite book.
If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?
I would probably be Belle from Beauty and the Beast because she was able to look past what others deemed as ugly and found the good in the beast.
What is your favorite thing in your home or apartment? Why?
My favorite thing in my home is my bible. Its our protection.
What was the last song that got stuck in your head?
Shaky shaky a track in Zumba I love. I teach Zumba by the way.
What is something that has been a struggle in your life?
The struggle I have had is forgiving people that have hurt me in the past. I am working on that and as I grow spiritually it becomes easier.
What qualities does the U.S. House of Representatives possess that makes it unique as an institution?
House Of Representatives possesses the average American. Many are teachers, lawyers, doctors, business owners, mothers, fathers.
Do you believe that it's beneficial for representatives to have previous experience in government or politics?
I think it is beneficial but not necessary for change.
What do you perceive to be the United States’ greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?
The greatest challenge that I see is getting this nation back on track from the destruction of the Trump administration. I have seen more hate and discrimination from him just being in office.
If you are not a current representative, are there certain committees that you would want to be a part of?
Financial Services for sure!
Do you believe that two years is the right term length for representatives?
Absolutely it is!
What are your thoughts on term limits?
I believe there should be term limits because change would not be made if the same people continue to be elected. We need to continue moving this nation forward.
